The Department of Thoracic and Soft Tissue Surgery has extensive experience in treatment of lung cancer, tracheal cancer, esophageal cancer, mediastinal tumor, bone and soft tissue cancer and other diseases. This department firstly carrys out esophagectomy via right thoracotomy (three-incision), colon or jejunal interposition after esophagectomy, the Pancoast’s tumor resection, tracheaoplasty, bronchoplasty, bronchovascular sleeve resection,esophagectomy with three-field lymph node dissection,hip- knee arthroplasty in Hubei province.The department is one of the first batch of minimally invasive thoracic surgery departments in domestic. In 1997, it held the first VATS classes for promoting technology in Hubei province.Currently, it can perform complete VATS major pulmonary resection,，esophagectomy and mediastinal tumor resection. The minimally invasive thoracic surgery has reached the national advanced level.
